Crazy About Curves

Well, I just moved everything I should need for tomorrow’s presentation to the car. If I didn’t do it tonight, it would surely be raining in the morning. I promised some video tutorials. And here they are!!! I really need to do this more often so that I remember how to do them. Please don’t be too critical about the filming. My favorite camera woman (sister) couldn’t make it up, so I was all on my own…. So as the saying goes…. what you see, is what you get!!!! Enjoy! And, I hope they make your sewing more pleasurable… There will be more to come. I also filmed a segment showing how I sew the binding in place. But the computer says it still needs 2 more hours to upload. Is that really possible… It’s only about 5 or 6 minutes long…. Well, I love you gals, but I have got to get to bed. I will upload the third video over the weekend. See you in the morning!

I’ll be speaking at the Ladies of the Lake Quilters’ Guild in February

How fun is that!!!!! I’ll be sharing how to make scalloped borders to finish the edges of their beautiful quilts.  I have a lot to share.  Too much actually.  So I am planning on making a video tutorial to complement the program.  I know I want to share how to make continuous bias binding.  It would be too difficult to present the technique as a lecture with such a large group. So I’ve decided to video tape the next binding I need to make.  It is so easy and I have a few tricks which make the process fast and simple. And I always have a quilt that needs to be bound.  So I think I’ll pick out some fabric and get to work.  It is raining outside and I won’t be gardening or sun bathing, so I might as well make some Continuous Bias Binding!

I’ll be speaking the second Saturday in February, so expect to see a link on that date.  Have to go. I hear my fabric stash calling me………

Distracted While Posting My First Video to the Blog

I was so excited I finally figured out how to insert the video link that I forgot to provide all the details…. (after a lot of trial and error, mostly error, I discovered I had to deselect the visual rich editor in my profile.)

Deadline Made!!!!

Oh my, that was way too close. The Dvd albums were packaged Thursday evening and moved directly to the car to drive to the TCHEN convention in Santa Rosa, California the next morning. I really enjoy TCHEN. CuddleTime Quilts has made it every year. It is always great to see old friends and make new ones.

Putting our sewing course on DVD was our biggest adventure of the year. ( Check out the youTube link below.) It took longer than we had planned, but we just kept adding content to make it even more complete. We hope that this NEW format will be just what you have been asking for. The sewing instruction is even more in depth than the text version and of course, it is now in color. We also included movies on rotary cutting instruction for parents and instructors, which was not included in the text, “Stitches in Truth”.

Five DvDs in all, plus a bonus cdRom with supplemental educational activities and teacher resources. We are very excited to have finished it prior to the summer homeschool conventions. Our next stop will be July 29th and 30th at the Valley Home Educators Convention in Modesto, California. Stop by and say hello!

DVD Course is Still on Schedule, Unbelievable!!! We’re SO Excited!

It truly is amazing… the DVD series is almost ready to package. We’re a bit partial, but we think you’ll really enjoy this new addition to our beginning sewing program. The entire sewing portion of the curriculum is now on DVD. It is almost 5 hours of clear, step by step directions, starting with the parts of the sewing machine and ending with a completed quilt. There is also a rotary cutting lesson for parents/instructors. We are also including a bonus CDRom with added activities and information designed especially for our fellow homeschool and private school families.

Once the final DVDs are ready, we’ll put a link to a little preview for you to enjoy. We were getting a bit nervous. It is a slow process and we know several families are already waiting for it. We didn’t want to disappoint anyone.

Video Companion DVD is Being Edited

Wow! The last few months have been a whirlwind of activity. It looks like we will have the companion DVD for our sewing curriculum ready for the Tri Counties Homeschool Convention in Santa Rosa, California, July 8th.

We’re so excited! I hope I can figure out how to up load a clip to our site when it comes back to us. Both children are now off at college and I have been left on my own to navigate ‘blog land’. Thank you, all, for being so patient. We are so much more proficient and comfortable at a sewing machine.

If you want more information on the convention check out their web site. http://www.tchen.org Looking forward to seeing old friends and make new ones. We welcome you to stop by our booth.

You will also find us at the Valley Home Education Convention in Modesto on July 29th and 30th. http://www.valleyhomeeducators.org

New Projects in the Works

We have been so busy! If all goes well, we will have several new products available for the upcoming conferences this summer. We think you’re going to really enjoy what we’ve been up to. I know we’re excited. But you’re going to have to wait just a little longer! In the meantime, back to work we go!
